Karl Jennings, a 1998 graduate of Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School, represented Athletics Canada in the 10th IAAF World Track & Field Championships in Helsinki, Finland. Jennings, who holds Canadian citizenship due to being born in Toronto, Ontario, competed in the 110 HH, placing 6th w ith a time of 14.30 seconds (running into a very stiff headwind) in Heat 3 of the preliminary round of the event. A 26 year old graduate of the University of Tennessee, where he was an NCAA Division I All-American in the 55 HH and the 110 HH, Jennings is the reigning Canadian National Champion in the 110 HH.
Jennings was a key member of the 1998 Group III Spring Track & Field Championship team at SPFHS. While in high school, Jennings competed in the 55 HH, 110 HH, 400 IH, and high jump in addition to various sprints and sprint relays. His scholastic accomplishments are too numerous to list here.
